"Wisconsin Wildcards"

Invasive species are a big problem. They are plants or animals that are native to one environment but move far distances (usually through human transport) and settle in a new place, often with terrible consequences to the environment there. These plants and animals disrupt the food patterns and other ecological interactions in the new environment.

The state of Wisconsin has taken to baseball-esque cards "Wisconsin Wildcards" to get information about these invasive and damaging species out to people. My friend Anne came across them on a recent camping trip to Devil's Lake and kindly brought some back:

Clever, small and eye-catching, this is a good resource, full of all the information you need to know which bug you might want to step on, on plant that pulling up might actually help the native environment!
